FIRST THEY MOCK IT, THEN THEY EMBRACE IT: GOP FLIP-FLOPS ON COMMUNITY SERVICE

Hmmm...Wasn't it just a week or so ago that former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin arrogantly mocked and derided Barack Obama's work as a community organizer while their minions on the convention floor heartily laughed?
Didn't Giulinai scoff at the position "community organizer" by ridiculing Obama's credentials and asking "whatever that it?"
Didn't Palin -- as if she has any right to challenge anyone on their experience and readiness -- belittle community organizing as "kind of like being the mayor of a small town, except the mayors have actual responsibilities?"
So what does their boss, Republican presidential candidate John McCain do last night in a presidential forum whose theme was service?
Why, say the following:
"I applaud Sen. Obama's commitment to service. His record on that is outstanding. That's just a fact."
So McCain's party disses community organizers, yet McCain goes on to say:
"There are so many ways to serve this country that are noble...and the reward is not always financial."
When directly asked last night by the moderators of the panel about Palin's derisive comments, McCain skirted the question, only defending Palin by saying she was responding to criticisms of her leadership experience being the mayor of a small town.
Oh and how about THIS?
When asked to comment about criticisms that the military was disproportionately non-white and lower income, Mr. Straight Talk himself tiptoed around them as if they were land mines and gave no answer.
So I get it.
On the 9/11 anniversary, that's the time for the GOP to drop mocking their opponent's community activism. How soon until they once again use it against him as flimsy evidence that he lacks exprience?

Didn't you know that they value ORDERING for service instead of serving themselves? Matter of fact straight talk doesn't mean honest talk. Look at how organization, efficiency, mobilization and community service they provided during Katrina! Such a perfect example of them serving the people not themselves!!!!

what's also amazing about the giuliani mockery...that community organizer ran a kick ass campaign compared to the pimp of 9/11's aborted attempt to be relavant on the national stage.

the hypocrisy abounds.
