Before you watch, it's important to know that in major polls conducted by CNN and the Wall Street Journal, Obama handily wins -- 51 to 38 percent by CNN's count and 55to 40 percent by the Journal's. What's even more striking is a CNN poll showing that among women, Obama was chosen as the winner by 59 percent to 31 percent. On the matter of fixing the economy -- which, the last time anyone alive American checked, is the most impotant issue our country faces -- Obama won that debate 58 to 37 percent. And although Newsweek blogger Andrew Romano says McCain "won, sort of," he writes, of McCain's behavior: "He scowled, smirked and refused to look at his rival, conveying an air of condescension that could turn off some undecideds. He twisted the facts in a few of his responses, including the ones on the Eisenhower letters and his Lebanon vote. He compared Obama to Bush, which is laughable. (Obama laughed.) And he seemed overeager to say that his opponent didn't 'understand' the issues--despite ample evidence to the contrary."
Here's the entire debate, courtesy of CNN, which you can watch in three parts.
